Palmar foot pain
Horses with palmar foot pain will typically respond to a palmar digital nerve block.
Pain in the heel has not, until recently, been easy to accurately locate. However, with the use of scintigraphy and MRI vets are becoming more able to pinpoint the site of pathology.
Palmar foot pain is common in hunters and showjumpers who are required to absorb large impacts through their front feet upon landing. This increase in load on the heel can cause a variety of outcomes.
